Miss B was a school girl on a school bus. The bus was full and she was standing near the front at the top of 2 steps which went down to the doors. The bus driver, not paying proper attention, was forced to brake very sharply and Miss B was thrown forward, down the steps, and hit the windscreen, breaking her arm. Because the bus driver was at fault, his employers (in this case the Local Authority) were liable, and we claimed against them. Miss B was awarded £5,250 for her injuries, and £1,500 for a holiday she had to miss because of the accident.
